Coconut Oil Does Not Cure All

Too much of a good thing of course has its negatives.

Coconut oil, the wondrous substance that cures all: from distressed, natural roots to even shedding unwanted pounds. People are discovering the benefits of it daily, finding new ways to utilize it, and in turn spreading their knowledge to others. Honestly, have you ever heard anything wrong about coconut oil?

With all due respect to #coconutoiltwitter, there are cons to using it daily.

Though mostly beneficial, there are things that we must be mindful of with its use. We have more access to tips and tricks to make our dietary habits better these days. Many people are swapping corn oil out of their cabinets for coconut oil, under the assumption that they are making an all around healthy decision. Oils are composed of assorted fatty acids, the most unhealthy one being saturated fat. Braces yourselves; coconut oil is composed of 92% saturated fat. The heavy fat composition can take a negative toll on one’s cholesterol, ultimately leading to heart issues if consumed regularly. So lighten up on the coconut oil, instead, sub in extra virgin olive oil.
